5x5x5 in practice

AND

Considerable work and effort over the last year has led to the emergence of AND (artists' network development) in tandem with a successful Arts Council bid to further the financial investment in artists' professional development. The focus of AND concerns artists furthering their practice in order to deepen their thinking within 5x5x5 according to their own art practice. Since January 2007, consultations with 5x5x5 artists have resulted in a funded framework and programme for:

• professional development input
• formal accreditation which furthers the academic interests and backgrounds of the artists involved
• skills based workshops and presentations
• opportunities to experience other artists' work
• expanding the different languages of the project for greater understanding and sharing of experience
• exhibiting
• dialogue and discussion
• peer group mentoring and support
• artists' meetings

Discussions are also underway about the possibility of commissioning a film about the role of the artist working in 5x5x5. This is an invitation to all artists to be involved in the debate about the formation and identity of AND, as well as constructing the appropriate framework
which will support artists' needs in the future of 5x5x5.
